Batelco launches 2.7MW data centre hub in Bahrain
08 February 2021 | Abigail Opiah Bahrain-based telecommunications company Batelco has opened a new data centre hub located in Hamala.
The company said the data centre is designed in line with international standards for the construction and this facility is the third data centre Batelco has launched.
The data centre spans across 12,236-sqm and has a total capacity of 2.7MW that services a total of 250 working cabins.
Commenting on the launch, H.E. Engineer Kamal Bin Ahmed Mohammed said, “The telecommunication sector is a key pillar in the success and prosperity of Bahrain’s economy, particularly the digital economy, and on this occasion, I would like to congratulate Batelco on its achievement in launching a world-class certified data centre that is in line with the Fifth Telecommunications Plan to support the Kingdom’s digital economy and facilitate digital transformation in various sectors.
Batelco opens largest enterprise data centre in Bahrain
MANAMA, February 6, 2021 Bahrain s leading telecom services operator Batelco has announced the official opening of the largest enterprise data centre in the kingdom. The new facility has achieved Tier III certification for design and build from the Uptime Institute. The data centre, located in Hamala, was inaugurated in the presence of Engineer Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, Minister of Transportation & Telecommunications and Chairman of Batelco Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalifa Al Khalifa and other officials. Spread over a 12,236 sq m area, the center is equipped with a total capacity of 2.7 megawatts that services a total of 250 working cabins, making it the largest data centre for the commercial sector in Bahrain, which is ready to provide hosting services for Enterprise customers.
