West Des Moines Man Facing Charges for Insurance Fraud

By Madeleine McCormick Photo from Iowa Insurance Division (Des Moines, IA) A West Des Moines man is facing charges for allegedly creating fake insurance policies and forcing Iowans to pay non-existent premiums for the false coverage. The Iowa Insurance Division s Fraud Bureau says 35-year-old Adam Hocking is facing charges for acting as an insurance producer without a license, fraudulent sales practices, theft, and forgery. Hocking was released from the Polk County Jail last month after posting a 25-thousand-dollar bond. A trial date hasn t been set.

The charges against Joyce stem from an investigation which began in 2019. According to criminal complaints filed by the Iowa Insurance Fraud Bureau, Joyce, while acting as an Iowa funeral director licensed to sell preneed funeral insurance policies, failed to comply with the requirements of Iowa Code chapter 523A. A Cease and Desist order was previously issued against Joyce by the Iowa Insurance Division in October of 2019.

According to the Iowa Insurance Bureau, 46-year-old Andrew Joyce, of Emmetsburg is charged with one count of Ongoing Criminal Conduct (Class B Felony), one count of Theft 1st Degree (Class C Felony), one count of Theft 2nd Degree (Class D Felony), and one count of Failure to Trust Preneed Funeral Services (Class D Felony). Des Moines Man Pleads Guilty in Insurance Fraud Investigation

By Dave Bohl Dec 15, 2020 DES MOINES, Iowa - A Des Moines man is pleading guilty to multiple charges following an investigation by the Iowa Insurance Division s Fraud Bureau. Mujtaba Ali of Des Moines had been under investigation for insurance fraud since July of 2018. According to the investigation, Ali submitted multiple, heavily altered or fabricated renters insurance claims after an alleged burglary at his apartment and collected benefits of over $10,000.00.
