Johnson County COVID update: Another 2 deaths, 40 cases Thursday

Officials also reported six new cases among the university s faculty and staff, for a total of 321 so far this semester. The university also reported no students living in its residence halls who are currently being asked to quarantine and just two who are self-isolating. ► COVID cases in Iowa prisons The state continued to report no incarcerated individuals at Coralville s Iowa Medical and Classification Center were positive for the disease at 10 a.m. Thursday. Five staff members are positive, however. Another 398 inmates and 71 employees have tested positive and since recovered.

Officials also reported 776 COVID-19 patients hospitalized across the state Wednesday morning, including 152 in ICUs; the previous highs were 1,527, reported Nov. 18, and 288, reported Nov. 17. Forty-eight of Iowa s 99 counties were reporting 14-day positivity rate averages of at or higher than 15% Wednesday morning. Ten counties  including Johnson were reporting 14-day positivity rate averages of less than 10%.
