In the past seven days, Iowa has reported an average of 89 new cases each day. In the past week, the state reported 21 additional deaths from COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus. There have now been 6,078 COVID-19 deaths in Iowa. A total of 1,343,744 Iowans, or 43% of Iowa s population, were fully vaccinated as of Wednesday, having received either both doses of a two-dose sequence or one dose of a single-dose vaccine. Another 136,951 Iowans (4%) were partially vaccinated with the first dose of a two-dose sequence.
