With college costs mounting and student debt remaining a hot topic of conversation, public opinion on four-year colleges has begun to shift, as people contemplate whether they are in fact the only or best option for all students. An estimated 8.7 million undergraduates enrolled in public, two-year colleges during the 2016–17 academic year, according to the National Center for Education Statistics. A 2019 study from TD Ameritrade found 36 percent of Gen Z students considered attending a community college before a four-year college, while 21 percent considered attending a community college instead of a four-year college.

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - This week marks Law Enforcement Memorial Week, and today students from Western Iowa Tech s Police Science Program took a trek through Sioux City for a very special cause.
The Law Enforcement Students along side members of the Sioux City Police Department, The Woodbury County Sheriff s Office, and the Iowa State Patrol walked the 4.62 miles from Western Iowa Tech Community College to the Law Enforcement Memorial in Downtown Sioux City.
The walk was part of a challenge from the Iowa State Patrol to walk, run, or Bike 4.62 miles in honor of fallen State Trooper Sergeant Jim Smith whos badge number 462.

Sioux City police investigating a murder at a home near Glenn and South Mulberry Street in Morningside. A news release says when officer arrived for a check welfare call this morning, they found a man and woman dead from apparent gunshot wounds. Detectives believe they identified all of the parties involved and are not looking for any suspects in the case. A spokesperson was not able to confirm if the deaths were caused by murder-suicide.

Authorities haven’t released more details on a farming accident in Woodbury County that killed an eight-year-old. The accident happened yesterday afternoon on a farm east of Climbing Hill.
