Education, social support, employment, and poverty are directly related to the health of a country. This is science, and it shows how the social determinants of health - the conditions into which people are born and where they work and live - are directly related to education, employment, access to clean water and sanitation, housing, environmental factors, and social and family support.

In February 2021, the European Commission presented its long-awaited flagship initiative – Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan – featuring four pillars: prevention, diagnosis and treatment, and quality of life of cancer patients.
The European Parliament gave a one year mandate to BECA Committee, a Special Committee on Beating Cancer, to work on its own draft Report. Askanews is hosting a series of interviews to hear straight from the BECA Members – what their priorities and commitments are and how their Report will fit in with the European Agenda.

She is the Rapporteur for the BECA’s Report leading the discussions that will shape the draft of the final position of the European Parliament.
