(Reuters) - Canada s main stock index hit a record high on Friday, driven by gains in energy and gold stocks as underlying commodity prices firmed, although the country lost more jobs than expected in May due to lockdowns. The energy sector climbed 1.1% as U.S. crude rose 1.2%, while Brent crude added 1.1%. [O/R] The materials sector, which includes precious and base metals miners and fertilizer companies, added 1.4% as gold futures rose 0.6% to $1,883.2 an ounce. [GOL/] At 09:37 a.m. ET (13:37 GMT), the Toronto Stock Exchange s S&P/TSX composite index was up 82.52 points, or 0.41%, at 20,023.91.
