Braithwaite confident of testing hosts

West Indies Test skipper Craig Braithwaite said on Wednesday that he is confident of giving the hosts a run for their money in the upcoming series, comprising two Tests and three ODIs.
“I think we have a good team. Few guys haven’t played international cricket and some haven’t played in a little while. I know this team is fully capable of doing well at the international level,” said Braithwaite adding that he wants to lead from the front.
“I want to lead from the front as a leader. It is my job as an opening batsman to get runs and build a foundation for the team. I don’t see the guys here as second string. I think they can perform and do well at the international level. I know they are looking for the opportunity,” he added.

The participation of Bangladesh Cricket Board’s two British passport holder foreign coaches, Ottis Gibson, and Jon Lewis, in the preparation camp will be decided today, said BCB officials on Tuesday.
Both the coaches, who arrived in Dhaka from the United Kingdom, are currently forbidden to take part in the ongoing preparation camp of Tigers that began on Sunday with the other members of the team management.
According to the latest government rules, passengers arriving from the UK must be institutionally quarantined for 14 days as a measure to contain the spread of the new variant of coronavirus.

Bangladesh’s new pace prodigy Shoriful Islam and Hasan Mahmud looked to have a point to prove as they began their stint in national nets on the opening day of the preparation camp at the BCB indoor on Sunday.
Tigers started their preparation camp with a net session ahead of the upcoming home series against West Indies and it looked to be the contest between pace bowlers and batsmen.
Shakib Al Hasan made a return in the national practice jersey for the first time since completing his suspension. Although he bowled a couple of overs in the nets largely trying to give flight, he never looked at ease while he was batting.

Bangladesh national cricket team’s foreign coaching staff headed by Russell Domingo returned to Dhaka on Friday ahead of the upcoming home series against West Indies.
BCB officials confirmed The Daily Sun on Friday that bowling coach Ottis Gibson and fielding coach Ryan Cook arrived on Friday morning while Tigers computer analyst Shrinivas Chandrasekaran returned in the afternoon.
Domingo was the last one from the team management to arrive in the country as he landed in the evening to prepare his charges ahead of the series comprising three ODIs and two Tests.
