Brown stink bugs that spoil wine have been seen in UK Max Channon
An invasive insect with a voracious thirst for juice has been spotted in the UK, sparking warnings to fruit and veg growers and winemakers.
The brown marmorated stink bug poses a threat to crops during summer - and heads inside people s homes during the winter - said the Natural History Museum, after one was identified in its wildlife garden at South Kensington by Museum scientists.
The scientists, working alongside the horticultural research institute NIAB EMR in Kent, confirmed the bugs have also been seen in London, Suffolk and Essex. The museum also received reports from a member of the public that she had seen one of the bugs in her home in Surrey.
