SNP MP Drew Hendry was suspended from the House of Commons after he protested against the UK Internal Market Bill.
The Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch and Strathspey representative was branded childish by other politicians after refusing to sit down and then picking up and walking toward the chamber door with the parliamentary mace.
Some people have branded the actions during the Brexit bill sitting as a publicity stunt.

Highland MP Drew has vowed to always stand up for my constituents after being suspended from the House of Commons for grabbing the mace in protest at the UK Internal Market Bill.
The mace sits on the dispatch box and is the traditional symbol of the monarchâs authority and without it laws cannot be passed nor can the House of Commons meet.
Brexit: Withdrawal Agreement To Be Fully Operational On 1 January 2021 Date

The EU-UK Joint Committee met virtually today to endorse all formal decisions and other practical solutions related to the implementation of the Withdrawal Agreement, as of 1 January 2021. It follows an agreement in principle reached by the Joint Committee co-chairs – European Commission Vice-President Maroš ŠefÄoviÄ and the UK Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, Michael Gove – on Tuesday, 8 December 2020.
The Withdrawal Agreement, and the Protocol on Ireland and Northern Ireland in particular, will now be implemented on 1 January 2021. This means delivering on our overarching objective to protect the Good Friday (Belfast) Agreement and avoid a hard border on the island of Ireland, thereby maintaining peace, stability and prosperity, as well as preserving the integrity of the EU s Single Market.
He wrote on Twitter: “Congratulations to him.
“The Bill is undemocratic and undermines the rights of all Scottish & Welsh citizens. Legislative consent has been rejected by @ScotParl & @SeneddWales.
“The Tory UK government should have withdrawn it.”
The Bill sets out how trade within the UK will operate post-Brexit, but critics feared the legislation in its original form represented a power grab by Westminster at the expense of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Following a number of defeats by the House of Lords and extensive debate and negotiations, the government had a rethink and made changes that will allow the devolved administrations agreed divergence from internal market rules through so-called common frameworks.
SNP MP ordered to leave House of Commons after Brexit protest

An SNP MP has been suspended from a House of Commons sitting after he protested against the approval of controversial Brexit legislation.
The party’s business spokesman Drew Hendry shouted “this is an outrage” as proceedings on the UK Internal Market Bill came to a conclusion following a lengthy parliamentary battle in recent weeks.
Deputy Speaker Dame Rosie Winterton told Mr Hendry to resume his seat but the MP refused before proceeding to pick up the parliamentary mace and walk towards the door of the chamber.
