‘Good chance’ that Greek and Spanish islands will be put on green list, says aviation expert Helen Coffey © Provided by The Independent According to the latest data, there’s a “good chance” that Spanish and Greek holiday islands will be moved to the green list in the government’s review later this week, an aviation expert has claimed. The former director of strategy at BA’s parent company International Airlines Group (IAG) and founder of GridPoint Consulting Limited, Robert Boyle, has predicted that Malta, Finland and Slovakia also have a clear case for going green. On the flip-side, he expects Bahrain, Costa Rica, Trinidad and Tobago and Kuwait to turn red on the forthcoming update, expected on Thursday 3 June.

The statistics that prove we should get rid of travel restrictions

These statistics prove we should get rid of travel restrictions Three quarters of us have antibodies, and planes are surprisingly low-risk for Covid-19 transmission, so why are we still grounded? 28 May 2021 • 4:50pm Families and loved ones have been kept apart for too long already, and all justification is gone  Credit: Horacio Villalobos/Getty How much risk should we be comfortable living with? It’s a highly subjective topic, of course, but one that’s been completely turned on its head as a result of this pandemic. Pre-2020, most of us were happy to roll the dice on things like driving and cycling – activities dangerous to both ourselves and others – in the knowledge that tens of thousands of serious road accidents occur each year.

This is in addition to the remote territories of the Falklands, South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands, Saint Helena, Ascension Island and Tristan da Cunha.

NEW, fully-electric, buses will soon hit the streets of Newport. Newport Transport, the main bus operator for the city, has announced 16 fully-electric zero-emission Yutong buses have been ordered, with an expected delivery of December 2021. Using an additional funding of £2.8 million from the UK Department for Transport (DfT) and its commercial partnerships, Newport Transport has ordered five new Yutong E12 single deck buses and eleven new Yutong E10 single deck buses. These will join the current fleet of 15 Yutong E12 and one Yutong E10, which have been in operation in Newport since October 2020. These additional buses will bring the number of fully electric zero emission buses at Newport Bus to 32, equating to a third of the fleet.

UK Bizav Hits the Skids, but Outlook Bright

Farnborough Airport The UK’s business aviation sector is experiencing the most challenging period in its history due to the impact both of the pandemic and Brexit, which have strangled demand and curtailed operations. However, its outlook is sanguine thanks to the imminent lifting of lockdown restrictions across the country, triggered by the UK’s swift and efficient vaccine rollout, and potential fresh business opportunities arising from the UK’s new position as an independent trading nation. This was the key message from the British Business and General Aviation Association’s (BBGA’s) annual conference, held virtually late last week.
