The Daily Heller: The Typography of Trauma

The Daily Heller: The Typography of Trauma David Rainbird is a UK-born designer and creative director now living in upstate New York. While hunkering in place he created the website 2020 Infodemic, the story of the pandemic told in 366 headlines. The information and misinformation grew exponentially as 2020 wore on. To manage the multiplying reports from every region in the world, news outlets switched to live-blogging the news. The format is often used for a local disaster or a bad day on the stock market but now it served to report on a global public health emergency that affected everyone, everywhere. I started to collect headlines about the pandemic as a way of making sense of the infodemic, writes Rainbird on his website. Often it helped to answer my question: How did we get here? ”

India divided: An imperialist spirit within a nation st

Because of the size and skills of its domestic population India is a global force. Inevitably, trends inside India will affect the world. In its turn, the world influences India. People of Indian origin living in dozens of other lands, adding up, at present, to an estimated 35 million, may have a part in the future of the “mother” country even as they deepen ties to their country of domicile. Inevitably and appropriately, people of Indian origin are becoming South African, American, Canadian, Australian, British, Portuguese, German, whatever. Meanwhile, Hindutva or Hindu nationalism is on the rise in India and apparently also among Hindus living elsewhere.

THE AQUARIAN S 25 BEST ALBUMS OF THE YEAR

The Aquarian‘s Top 25 Albums of 2020 the year we’ll NEVER forget. 25. Hayley Williams – Petals for Armor Paramore has dabbled in many genres in the course of their modern day career. Pop punk, rock, new wave… the list (thankfully) goes on and on. Adding to that collection of music released by Paramore and their subsequent members is frontwoman Hayley William’s first solo endeavor, 2020’s flawless 15-track record Petals for Armor. Separated into three sides, the album tackles emotions in a way Paramore never outwardly covered. It also dabbles in catharsis from hardships and the anger felt personally and publicly. Williams expertly wraps listeners around her finger on this release, telling them in the strongest, most feminine, lustful, and vulnerable way possible that the cycle of feelings humans go through are frustrating, legitimate, and worthwhile in the end.

St Martin News Network - New Album Blending Birdsong and Music Raises Money to Help Birds

Published: 22 December 2020 PHILIPSBURG: - It’s musical activism! Listen to the call of the endemic (and elusive) Jamaican Blackbird with a hypnotic beat. The Zapata Wren of Cuba sings sweetly, accompanied by delicate electronic notes. The Keel-billed Motmot of Central America emerges from behind gentle rhythms. The cries of Mexico’s Thick-billed Parrot blend with a finger-snapping background. These are some of the exciting tracks on the album, A Guide to the Birdsong of Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean. Released online in June by Shika Shika, sales of the music and merchandise have raised over US$30,000 to date, the non-profit label announced. The nonprofit BirdsCaribbean and three other conservation organizations in the tropics will benefit.
