UK: Serica Energy announces Columbus and R3 operational update

(23/16f-CDev1) in the UK Central North Sea was spudded in mid-March and drilled, as planned, to a total measured depth of 17,600ft. A 5,900ft horizontal section was drilled through the reservoir formations of the upper Forties and encountered a sequence of sands and shales, in line with pre-drill expectations. The well requires sand screens to be installed to prevent fine particles being produced; difficulties were encountered while running the screens and it was ultimately not possible to install them. As a result, the reservoir section of the well will be side-tracked and re-drilled, using data collected during initial drilling to optimise its trajectory and avoid the difficulties encount

Finder acquires North Sea acreage from Azinor

Finder Energy is pleased to announce that it has completed the acquisition of two highly prospective UK North Sea operated licences, P2502 and P2524, from Azinor Catalyst Limited (Azinor).
P2502 is located on the western edge of the East Shetland Basin, Northern North Sea, and covers an area of 424 square kilometres and is 85 km NE of the Shetland islands (see Location Map). The licence holds significant potential in the Upper Jurassic turbidite play with over 1.2 billion barrel oil equivalent identified across eleven mapped leads. Finder currently holds an operated 100% working interest in this licence.

Shell picks surveyor for UK Pensacola well
Shell has hired Aberdeen-based Fugro to undertake a geophysical and geotechnical site survey at the Pensacola prospect in the UK North Sea, in preparation to drill an exploration well.
The survey will begin at the end of July and will be completed in the third quarter, Shell s London-listed partner Deltic Energy said in a statement on May 24. Drilling should start in May 2022, it said.
BP sells stake in Shearwater field to Tailwind, but holds onto Andrew
BP said today it had agreed to sell its stakes in the Shearwater field to Tailwind Energy for an undisclosed sum.

BP said today it had agreed to sell its stakes in the Shearwater field to Tailwind Energy for an undisclosed sum.
But BP will hold onto its Andrew area assets, also in the UK North Sea, which it had been looking to sell.
