Whereas the United Kingdom (UK) and United States (US) have seen declines in COVID-19 cases, which is allowing for some easing of restrictions. NEW DELHI: British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab on Wednesday called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi during which they discussed the vast potential of the India-UK partnership in the post-COVID and post-Brexit world.
In a tweet after the meeting, Modi said he was looking forward to UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s visit to India to be the Chief Guest at the Republic Day celebrations next month.
“Excellent meeting with @DominicRaab, UK Secretary of State of @FCDOGovUK. Discussed the vast potential of the India-UK partnership in the post-COVID, post-BREXIT world,” Modi tweeted.

In the wake of Brexit, the UK has been looking at ramping up trade cooperation with leading economies like India. British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab is on a four-day visit to India, during which he met External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Tuesday. The dignitaries from both the countries held delegation-level talks to discuss various points to strengthen cooperation between India and the UK.
Jaishankar revealed that he discussed various issues with UK Foreign Secretary Raab, including defence and security, climate, health among others. They also discussed global situations, including Afghanistan, Indo-Pacific relations and such. The focus has been on how to take our ties to a higher level. We focused on five broad themes- connecting people, trade and prosperity, defence and security, climate change and health, the EAM said.
