Isabel Hilton is a Scottish-born journalist and founder of China Dialogue, a non-profit website that produces bilingual stories about the environment and climate change in China. She was made an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire in 2009 for “services to promoting environmental awareness in China.”
Hilton’s first exposure to China came as a teenager when, during a high school exchange year in Ohio, she challenged herself to learn Chinese. While that wasn’t very successful, she did manage to learn it upon returning to Scotland in order to matriculate in Chinese at the University of Edinburgh. She then lived in China for three years and studied at the Peking Languages Institute and at Fudan University in Shanghai.

Climate Activists Blockade Parliament Vehicle Depot to Put ‘Environmental Emergency’ on Federal Budget Agenda
CANBERRA Climate change activists have attempted to disrupt government officials from reaching Parliament House on Tuesday morning ahead of the announcement for the new Federal Budget by blockading roads and chaining themselves to gates and vehicles at a parliamentary car depot.
Members from the Global environmental movement Extinction Rebellion formed multiple blockades covering the entrances to the depot, preventing drivers from reaching Parliament.
Extinction Rebellion had said that members were willing to risk arrest to raise awareness that the federal government needs to address climate change concerns in the upcoming budget.
SharmaTowards ensuring a successful United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow, the President of the conference, Mr. Alok Sharma, and the President of the UN Climate Change Conference COP25 in Madrid in 2019, Ms. Carolina Schmidt of Chile, are calling on all countries to either follow through on commitments made under the Climate Ambition Alliance, or join the efforts of the alliance.
The alliance brings together Nigeria and countries, businesses, investors, cities and regions which are working towards achieving net-zero Carbon Dioxide (CO2) emissions by 2050, as well as countries committed to updating their national climate action plans under the Paris Agreement – Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).

Chicago, IL /PRNewswire/ - Today, JLL (NYSE: JLL) announced its aim to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2040 across all areas of its operations, including the client sites it manages, globally. To deliver this commitment, 95% of JLL s 2018 baseline greenhouse gas emissions will be fully abated, and any residual offsets required will be limited to no more than 5% of that baseline.
