MPs and campaigners have condemned pro-Palestine protesters for waving signs referring to Adolf Hitler and the Holocaust during protests against Israeli actions in the Middle East.
One man standing in Trafalgar Square yesterday held a Palestinian flag with a placard reading, Stop doing what Hitler did to you , while a poster held by a woman read, Israel, the new Nazi state .
Another sign in London referred to Holocaust Part 2 and another - referring to Israel s Prime Minister - read Netanyahu surpasses Hitler in barbarism .
Responding to the signs, Lord Mann, the government s anti-Semitism tsar, told the Sunday Times: The disgusting racist abuse against Jewish people on the streets of London requires an effective and strong response by all politicians and will be treated with contempt by all decent citizens.
UNRWA Commissioner-General Visits Gaza After Latest Violence
Format
The Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) Philippe Lazzarini is in Gaza for the first time after the latest round of violence. Mr. Lazzarini underscored the Agency’s commitment to the rights and wellbeing of Palestine refugees, who form over 70% of Gaza’s 2 million inhabitants.
“I am deeply frustrated at this senseless episode of extreme violence that killed civilians, destroyed infrastructure and threw Gaza back several years,” said Mr. Lazzarini. “19 of the 60 children killed in this conflict went to UNRWA schools, they were known to my colleagues.”
