Enugu govt pledges support for United Nigeria Airlines

Punch Newspapers Sections United Nigeria Airlines on Friday operated its first flight into Enugu. The inaugural flight took off from the domestic wing of Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Ikeja, Lagos State some minutes after 10am and touched down at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport Enugu, the operational base of United Nigeria at 11:06am before setting off for Abuja, the nation’s capital. The airline was welcomed by a water cannon salute by the aerodrome and firefighters and  officials of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria. The Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, who was represented by the Deputy Chief of Staff, Government House, Enugu, Prof. Malachy Okwueze, pledged to support the airline.

The airline which will concentrate on the Southern part of Nigeria for now added Lagos and Abuja to its route because of the peculiarities of the cities. The new airline’s flight route and time are Lagos-Abuja at 6:45am daily; Abuja-Lagos at 8:15am daily; Lagos-Asaba at 9:45am daily; Asaba-Abuja at 11:15am daily; Abuja-Asaba a4 12:45pm daily and Asaba-Lagos at 14:15pm daily. United Nigeria Airlines Secures AOC from NCAA

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has issued the United Nigeria Airlines an Air Operators Certificate (AOC) with number UNA/AOC/01-21/961, after meeting the requirements as stated in the Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations. The AOC would be valid till January 31, 2023, when it would be expected the airline would renew it. With this, the new indigenous carrier is set to commence operations. The airline is one of the few airlines on the line to secure AOC after the regulatory authority has adjudged them worthy and after meeting the stringent criteria, which include demonstration flights for several hours. AOC is a document issued by NCAA to show approval for an airline to commence flight services in Nigeria.
