GUWAHATI: United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) president Pramod Boro was sworn in as the new chief executive member of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) in Kokrajhar on Tuesday.
In his speech at the oath-taking ceremony at a jam-packed field at Bodofa Nwgwr in Kokrajhar, Boro recollected his days of struggle in the past which made him more resolute to live a pro-people life.
“Past is nostalgic and harsh but I have resolved to work hard. Like I was in hardship, thousands of youths are still facing difficult times even today in Bodoland Territorial Region. There are students who do not get scope to study, do not have enough to eat and wear. I was one of them and today I have resolved to serve them,” said Boro, who was administered the oath by chief secretary Jishnu Baruah in the absence of governor Jagdish Mukhi.

GUWAHATI: Seventeen years since it was created as a political solution to the Bodo agitation for a separate state, Assam s Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) on Tuesday got a new chief in former student leader Pramod Bodo.
He was sworn in as the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the autonomous council at a programme held in Kokrajhar. Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma were among dignitaries in attendance.
Gobinda Basumatary of the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) took oath as the Deputy CEM. He is a former leader of a faction of the insurgent group National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB).

Kokrajhar: The fourth Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) was constituted on Tuesday with the swearing in of five members of the BJP-UPPL-GSP combine and UPPL s Promod Bodo assuming charge as the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the autonomous body. The members were administered the oath of office by Assam Chief Secretary Jishnu Barua at the Green Field Ground in Bodofa Nwgar here.

Kokrajhar: Assam education minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Tuesday that 40 new colleges would be constructed in all the 40 constituencies of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC). Sarma made this announcement in the oath-taking ceremony of the new council of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) Along with the 40 new colleges, full-fledged stadiums will also be set up in these constituencies.
On Tuesday, United People s Party Liberal (UPPL) president Pramod Boro was sworn in as the new Chief Executive Member (CEM) of BTC at Greenfield, Bodofa Nagar in Kokrajhar. Along with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Gana Suraksha Party (GSP), UPPL will form the next council together.
