GUWAHATI: United Peoples’ Party Liberal (UPPL) president Pramod Boro will be sworn-in as the new chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) in Kokrajhar on Tuesday after governor Jagdish Mukhi invited the UPPL-BJP-GSP alliance to administer the autonomous council for the next five years.
BJP leader and minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “Along with Boro, four other members will be sworn in tomorrow, including the deputy chief executive member, who will also be from UPPL. There will be two from BJP and one from GSP, who will take oath tomorrow.”
The swearing-in of Boro and his four colleagues will be held at a public ground Bodofa Nawgar at Kokrajhar at 10 am. It will be attended by chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Tripura deputy chief minister Jishnu Debbarma and Sarma.

Election to the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) has ended peacefully, with people from all walks of life participating without fear for the first time ever. The election this time in fact turned out to be a sort of festival with parties, candidates and supporters engaging in music, songs and dance while carrying out their respective campaign. The result of the election which came out after counting of the ballot papers late Saturday evening on the other hand has once again established the supremacy and glory of democracy in India. There was hardly any disturbance anywhere, and not even any major complaint from any quarter. And, the best part of it is the fact that all the contending parties and candidates have happily accepted the verdict of the people. It
