US Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken was blunt and plain-spoken in his unflattering assessment of Uganda’s poor human rights record when he delivered on-camera remarks recently while presiding at the release of the 2020 Country Reports on Human Rights Practices.
Uganda’s grades on human rights took a battering before, during and in the immediate aftermath of 2020/2021 election campaign period that put on public display the army and police’s use of highhanded brute force to break up opposition campaign rallies, arrest politicians and their supporters deemed to run counter to Covid-19 rules limiting gatherings to 200 people.
Weber County declared a 2nd Amendment sanctuary

OGDEN, Utah â Weber County is joining a growing number of communities around the country that are declaring themselves as Second Amendment sanctuaries.
During a meeting Tuesday, Weber County Commissioners Jim Harvey, Gage Froer and Scott Jenkins unanimously approved a resolution to protect the right for Weber County citizens to bear arms. We have a lot of individuals that had reached out to us and said this is really important,â said Harvey.
They also thanked Sheriff Ryan Arbon for his support in making the county a Second Amendment sanctuary.

On April 2 while Catholics worldwide observed Good Friday, the people of Culebra and Vieques Islands took to the streets to protest the malfunctioning maritime transportation system. Their outcry for justice echoed with the chants: “We want transportation with dignity and efficiency,” “The waterway is our road it is not luxury” and “We denounce inhumanity and unite our hands.”
The islands of Culebra and Vieques are part of the archipelago of islands that constitute Puerto Rico, which has been a colony of the United States for the past 123 years.

Gov. Jared Polis has ordered flags to be lowered to half-staff on all public buildings until sunset Wednesday, as a sign of remembrance and honor for his former colleague, Rep. Alcee Hastings of Florida, as proclaimed by President Joe Biden.
“I’m saddened to lose a friend and former colleague. For the 10 years I served in the United States Congress, I sat next to Alcee on the Rules Committee, including during many late night sessions,” Polis said. “No one could spin a yarn like Alcee, who always made his points in an inspirational and often poetic manner. I will miss him.”
