TALLAHASSEE, Fla. Florida will get another seat in the U.S. House of Representatives following the release of new data from the Census Bureau, giving it more influence in presidential elections.
The addition means Florida will have 28 United States representatives in the House – up from 27. And, with its two senators, it will have 30 electoral votes in the 2024 presidential contest.
Florida s resident population grew by more than 14 percent to 21,538,187 people, an increase of 2,736,877 people, according to the first release of data from the Census Bureau s 2020 headcount. In 2010, the population was 18,801,310 people.
