Days of Remembrance is the nationâs annual commemoration of the millions of victims who underwent great suffering during the Holocaust. This year the Holocaust Days of Remembrance week was April 4-11. Holocaust Remembrance Day was April 8.
This yearâs theme, âLessons from the Holocaust: Acknowledge, Preserve and Honor,â not only remembers the millions of Holocaust victims who tragically lost their lives, but also honors the survivors. Between 1933 and 1945, the German government, led by Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party, carried out the systematic persecution and murder of 6 million European Jews. This genocide is now known as the Holocaust.Â
The Nazi regime also persecuted and murdered millions of other people it considered politically, racially or socially unfit. The survivors who lived and endured the atrocities committed by the Nazi regime remind us to never forget.

Throughout March, Jamestown Community College paid tribute to women who serve its campuses in celebration of International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month.
The college highlighted several women in senior leadership roles through a social media campaign.
Among those featured included the college’s executive director of human resources, Nickey Riczker, a first-generation college graduate, who comes from “a long line of very strong women … whose strength became even more apparent as they fearlessly faced challenge and adversity.”
“These women paved the way for me to be the first person in my family to attend and graduate from college and to forge a career in the business field, a field that has typically been dominated by men,” said Riczker, who also serves as the college’s chief diversity officer. “As such, it is truly a privilege for me to serve in a leadership role at JCC and I am proud to be a part of an institution of higher learning wh
