The Infrastructure Bill Should Look After Our Future, and Our Past Clint Smith © Provided by The Atlantic (NATIONAL ARCHIVE / NEWSMAKERS / GETTY) In its $2 trillion infrastructure proposal, the Biden administration seeks to expand the public’s conception of what is and is not infrastructure. It is right to do so. Infrastructure is not just the bridge we drive across; it is the home health aides who look after our parents and grandparents. Infrastructure is not simply the train we ride, but also the day care where we drop our children off before heading to work. Democrats are in a position to expand that definition even further. The United States should improve its physical infrastructure and support the human infrastructure that sustains our society but it should also build up America’s historical infrastructure. Holocaust Days of Remembrance observed annually

Days of Remembrance is the nation’s annual commemoration of the millions of victims who underwent great suffering during the Holocaust. This year the Holocaust Days of Remembrance week was April 4-11. Holocaust Remembrance Day was April 8. This year’s theme, “Lessons from the Holocaust: Acknowledge, Preserve and Honor,” not only remembers the millions of Holocaust victims who tragically lost their lives, but also honors the survivors. Between 1933 and 1945, the German government, led by Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party, carried out the systematic persecution and murder of 6 million European Jews. This genocide is now known as the Holocaust.  The Nazi regime also persecuted and murdered millions of other people it considered politically, racially or socially unfit. The survivors who lived and endured the atrocities committed by the Nazi regime remind us to never forget.
