Gangsters pose as cops to target rivals in violent Metro Vancouver conflict, police say

Those being pulled over were rivals who had been marked for revenge. Sgt. Brenda Winpenny, of the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit, said the disturbing incident wasn’t the only recent event in which those involved in the violence were posing as police officers to target enemies. The fake traffic stops were reported to police and CFSEU’S uniformed gang enforcement team “very quickly I think within 24 hours located that vehicle, stopped it, arrested the people inside,” Winpenny said. “It’s still under investigation, but we’re anticipating some charges in relation to that.” The car being used was not standard police issue, but the flashing lights appeared to work, as those being targeted were pulling over.

This wasn’t your average roadblock. Police allege the people inside the fake police car were participants in the Lower Mainland gang conflict. And those being pulled over? Rivals who had been marked for revenge. Sgt. Brenda Winpenny, of the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit, said the disturbing incident isn’t the only recent event where those involved in the violence are posing as police officers to target enemies.

Two teens arrested after impersonating police in Metro Vancouver

Two people are in custody after allegedly impersonating police officers in Langley on Wednesday evening. According to Langley RCMP, the arrests came after police received two separate reports of a Dodge Ram truck with “blue and red flashing lights in the windshield.” Police said the first incident was reported just after 9 pm in Langley City. The initial complainant believed the occupants to be impersonating Police officers and saw them pull over a Toyota Corolla. The Dodge pulled alongside the Toyota, and it is believed they had a brief exchange before pulling away. Then, just before midnight, officers from the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU) travelling on Fraser Highway in Langley, observed a truck matching the description speeding westbound between 232nd and 240th Streets. The vehicle stopped for police on 222nd Street.
