Letter: Master Gardener Volunteers adapt and grow
In spite of the late planting season, the garden yielded more than 500 pounds of food for Channel One Regional Food Bank and neighbors during a fall harvest festival.

Thanks to the leadership team of the Olmsted County Extension Master Gardener Volunteers, we managed to lead our local group of close to 100 volunteers through the pandemic. We were steadfast in “staying the course” and provided adapted offerings of gardening support to many in the county.
To illustrate such an adapted offering, a team of MG volunteers recorded video lessons to educate young people about the science, nutrition and care of growing veggies and pollinators, via distanced learning lessons, partnering with other Olmsted County Extension agencies. Another adaptation included teaming up with community partners to begin teaching neighbors in Southeast Rochester how to grow their own food. This took place at t
