ORHO sensitises parents on nutrition for children

Share In commemoration of the 2021 International Children’s Day celebration, Oak Rural Health Organisation (ORHA) has sensitised mothers and children’s caregivers on the importance of adequate and correct nutritional supplements and balanced meals for children. The sensitisation became imperative given that according to the World Health Organisation (WHO), about 2.5 billion children suffer from malnutrition globally. Of this figure, 921,618 (children aged 6-59 months) are in Nigeria. The sensitisation which took place on Thursday at Elewi Odo community in Ibadan, Oyo State capital, had a nutritionist from University College Hospital, Ibadan, enlighten the parents on the importance of a balanced diet and its importance to the growth of children.

After 300 years, Babaegbe community gets first borehole

Share It was a carnival-like scene on Sunday as residents of Babaegbe community in Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo State rolled out drums and their sleeves to celebrate their first-ever pipe-borne water source. The community residents which had lived all their lives without a portable water source were full of thanks to Oak Rural Health Organisation (ORHO), which facilitated the drilling of the borehole. Before ORHO came to the aid of this community, the residents relied solely on unclean sources of water like a stagnant body of water which gathers after rainfall and dirty wells where they stored rainwater during the rainy season for use in the dry season. These were not enough, according to Comfort Olawale, one of the residents who spoke to Nigerian Tribune shortly after the inauguration of the borehole.
