Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon is expected to lift the county s COVID-19 emergency orders within the near future.
McMahon said that the county is no longer in an emergency, as cases continue to drop and more people receive the COVID vaccine. Only 5 new cases were announced Tuesday.

Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon has announced a new milestone involving COVID-19 vaccinations:
He said that more than 70% of residents over the age of 18 in the county have been vaccinated. Meanwhile, the number of new infections has grown by 34, but the countywide death toll remains unchanged.

A week after issuing new guidelines, New York State has lifted the mandate for children wearing masks at daycare centers and summer camps following backlash from parents and child care providers.
New guidance was issued by the state health department on Monday, May 24.
Local leaders also spoke out against the new state child care guidelines released last week, that initially required all children 2 and older to wear a mask at daycares and summer camps.

Isabelle Harris has worked on economic and government relations for Onondaga County for the past 16 years. She has previously worked with Congressman John Katko and State Senator John DeFrancisco, among others. She s also the sister of Onondaga County GOP Chair Benedicte Doran.
