School district graduation rate is best since 2008
Rates are higher in school districts throughout Oregon, although some lawmakers question validity of data
Crook County School District graduation rates are the highest in more than a decade, according to results recently released by Oregon Department of Education.
The district posted a district-wide graduation rate of 80%, its highest since 2008, and an 8% increase over 2019 s graduation rate of 72%. The district-wide graduation rate is a combination of rates among Crook County High School and the alternative schools of Pioneer, Rimrock and COIC. The CCHS graduation rate of 91% is consistent with outcomes since 2016, district leaders said.

SALEM, Ore. Oregon Gov. Kate Brown will convene a one-day special session of the state legislature on Monday, Dec. 21, during which she ll ask state lawmakers to consider $800 million in relief for Oregonians suffering financially from the COVID-19 pandemic and the state s wildfires.
The funding will go towards helping tenants and landlords, funding vaccine distribution and contact tracing, wildfire prevention and community preparedness and support for reopening Oregon s schools.
Brown said she has repeatedly called on Congress to pass another coronavirus relief bill, to no avail. She said states must act on their own until the federal government passes a new relief bill.
