Portland DA, Oregon AG to jointly investigate Delgado shooting April 29 2021 The family of the homeless man shot by Portland police had called for the appointment of a special prosecutor. Multnomah County District Attorney Mike Schmidt and Oregon Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum announced on Thursday that their offices will jointly investigate the Portland police shooting death of Robert Douglas Delgado. In the announcement, Schmidt and Rosenblum said they recognize the importance of always maintaining actual and perceived prosecutorial legitimacy and fairness. Delgado s family had called for an independent prosecutor to be assigned to the case. Delgado was killed on April 16 in Lents Park by Portland Police Officer Zachary DeLong, an eight-year veteran of the bureau assigned to East Precinct. Police recovered a replica gun. Delgado s family said he was homeless and had struggled with mental health and addiction issues.

Slatery III urged the U.S. Department of Education to cancel federal student loan debt for some students who attended ITT Technical Institute. The now defunct for-profit school defrauded thousands of individuals by encouraging them to enroll and borrow loans based on false and misleading information about the value of an ITT degree.   The borrower defense application that a bipartisan coalition of 24 states and the District of Columbia filed today includes students who attended ITT Tech between at least 2007 and 2011.
