Now’s time to work on estate planning Tony Nye - OSU Extension What is estate planning? Simply, estate planning is arranging for the use and disposal of your resources and property after your death. It allows you to look at the total picture. You should give some time and thought to plan your estate. Here would be some steps to consider: 1. Know what you have and where it is: What do you own? What is your net worth? Where are your important papers? 2. Know how you want your estate to be handled: What are your goals for your estate after your death? Who, as your estate planning team, can help you meet those goals?

New private pesticide applicator virtual training

Register for this virtual event at https://go.osu.edu/virtualnewpesticideapplicatortraining-january26 and you will be sent a link for the class. There is no cost to participate and those who are unable to participate on the scheduled webinar date will be sent an email to watch the recording later if they register for the class. Following the class, participants can schedule an exam time at https://pested.osu.edu/PrivateApplicator/testing when they are ready to take the tests. There are other online options listed on that website as well in case the January 27 th date does not work. This year the deadline for pesticide applicator recertification has been extended. Licenses set to expire on 3/31/21 now have until 7/1/2021. 

Water quality Wednesdays

Water quality concerns continue to be at the forefront of environmental-impact discussions across many industries. Since agriculture occupies much of the land area in Ohio, adapting farming operations to include “best management practices” has been an area of focus for agricultural producers, governmental agencies and other stakeholders working to contribute to solutions. jkiaski@heraldstaronline.com NEW CUMBERLAND The Alpha Tau Chapter (W.Va.) of Alpha Delta Kappa, International Honorary Organization for Women Educators held its January meeting through Zoom. The meeting was called to order by President Diane Bowers. The thought for the day, “A Mighty Fortress is Our God,” was read by Chaplain Kathy Griffith. Roll call was taken, and minutes were approved as presented by Secretary Velda Icard. Treasurer Fran Jones gave the financial report and discussed the progress of the ways and means projects. No committee reports were given. West Virginia President Pat Hardin was the special guest. She discussed upcoming events at the district, state and regional levels.
