Alabama A&M was pegged the team to beat in the division after former favorite Alcorn State opted to not play in the spring. The Bulldogs have lost to no teams this spring but have repeatedly suffered the frustration of having games postponed or canceled because of COVID-19 protocols.

Pandemic-driven spring football requires virtual creativity

Juggling church and football is a typical Sunday for NFL fans. Thanks to the coronavirus pandemic, it became the norm for college fans like the Mosleys as most Football Championship Subdivision leagues moved their schedules to the spring. Schools still faced some of the same issues that colleges dealt with during the fall and winter canceled games, limited practices, sidelined players.

But Sundays were more of a spring thing.
The Ohio Valley Conference and Northeast Conference decided to play on Sundays to help schools staff all the sports in this chaotic spring.

While it’s not the first big event the stadium will have hosted coming out of the pandemic – with USA Wrestling having a big show and the Ohio Valley Conference tournament both in May – it does mark a milestone in returning somewhat to normal.
Rush Productions is the promoter, and Generals GM Marcus Sabata said the stadium is able to capitalize on a couple of things working in Jackson’s favor when it comes to hosting concerts.
“We as an organization seem to have developed a reputation over the past few years of hosting concerts of being easy to work with,” Sabata said. “There’s more to planning a concert than saying ‘Let’s have a concert on this date with this artist’ and it’s done.
