Quality, cost-effective public services designed to foster a high quality of life in Delaware were the focus of a City Council work session Feb. 1.
Members of the city administration presented an update to a set of municipal goals that City Manager Tom Homan said had been formulated in 2019 and 2020. We re checking back just to give you an idea what we ve been working on, refresh your collective memories to what those goals are that we established (and) get clarification, provide additional information and feedback, Homan said before reviewing a summary of the goals.
The summary lists the objective of a vital, safe and diverse community that promotes a high quality of life, great neighborhoods, balanced economic growth and quality public services.
Planners for a new transportation system for major corridors in Franklin County are recommending a bus rapid transit line to link Downtown Columbus with the Northwest Side.
The LinkUS transportation initiative, a collaboration between the city of Columbus, the Central Ohio Transit Authority and the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission, has scheduled virtual public meetings for noon and 6 p.m. Wednesday for those interested in listening and weighing in with ideas. Bus rapid transit, or BRT, is being recommended because it is less expensive than light rail. Such a system has dedicated lanes with state-of-the-art, Wi-Fi-equipped buses that can carry more passengers. On the route would be stations that also act as neighborhood hubs, the thought being that those stations would also attract development nearby.

DENVER March 2020 marked the first stay-at-home order for Colorado. Since that time, the number of people working from home across the nation and the state has increased with the COVID-19 pandemic. This has pushed sustainability leaders to look at how telecommuting could decrease overall emissions.
Jerry Tinianow served as Denver’s first chief sustainability officer from 2012 to 2019, and now runs his own sustainability business. Tinianow began looking into this concept in the spring of 2020. Virgin Hyperloop has unveiled detailed renderings for its hyperloop experience only a few months after a pod carried its first passengers safely.
The videos and images show a vision of high-speed tubes crossing landscapes, connecting cities and transporting commuters to their destinations in a mere matter of minutes all with an eye for passenger comfort.
Whether through tunnels or elevated tracks, the system promises speeds well over 600 miles an hour.
