The infestation issue began while the sub was taking part in ICEX 2020 in the Arctic Ocean in March 2020 and continued during a deployment last year, according to a Connecticut petty officer who asked to remain anonymous for fear of retribution.

BREMERTON Winter winds and a little Northwest rain couldn’t dampen spirits among the 100 or so people gathered at Bachmann Park in Bremerton. The crowd was there Sunday to welcome home the USS Nimitz, the first U.S. Navy aircraft carrier deployed after the pandemic shook the world, following an 11-month voyage.
SILVERDALE After getting a fresh set of tires and an oil change for his pickup, Dave Reckner was headed south on Highway 3 when he spotted a box sitting beside the road.
Curiosity got the best of him. He got off at the next interchange to circle back for a closer look. It was taped up, and I figured it had probably come off a UPS truck. I guess I had visions of a finder s fee if I could return it to someone, he joked.
But the box had no label. And, after he took it home that day in late November, despite his best efforts searching the internet, he found nothing.

In the past two weeks, Washington has sent a guided-missile destroyer through the Taiwan Strait, demonstrating the US continued commitment to the self-governed democratic island. The same destroyer then continued to the Paracel Islands to challenge Beijing s island claims in the South China Sea. Washington also deployed two of its massive aircraft carriers for exercises in the same waters and dispatched one of its newest destroyers to Japan.
And last week it gave the region a fresh look at the Ohio, showing off the 18,000-ton guided-missile submarine as it participated in exercises with US Marines around the Japanese island of Okinawa.
