Onslow County deputies are searching for a second suspect accused of an attempted armed robbery and attempted home invasion in an incident that left the other suspect dead at the scene early Sunday morning.
At approximately 3:40 a.m. Onslow County Sheriff deputies were called to 12 Baily Drive. Lot 3 after a 9-1-1 call came in that said someone had been shot.
When first responders arrived at the home, they found 28-year-old Xavier Jameel Newkirk behind his vehicle that was parked beside the home. Deputies say Newkirk is the owner of the home and had been shot twice, needing immediate medical attention.
