HEIDELBERG, Germany, Dec. 24, 2020 /PRNewswire/ NEC Laboratories Europe recently demonstrated the effectiveness of its Unikraft technology by doubling the data throughput on a NGINX web server while running on Amazon Web Services (AWS). This is compared to the same web server running on a Linux-based image. The result is equivalent to reducing server resource costs by half, as it enables the same data throughput (requests/sec.) with a smaller and cheaper instance.
Unikraft, a Linux Foundation open source project, achieves such rates through specialization; easily allowing users to build a custom operating system and software stack tailored to the needs of a specific application, and ready to deploy as an AWS image. SolarWindsissued a security advisory providing detailed information on steps customers should take in response to the continuing attack on the company’s widely used Orion IT management system and confirming that two separate pieces of malware are now corrupting some installations.
The company has previously said that close to 18,000 organizations could have been vulnerable as a result of malware inserted into Orion software updates earlier this year.
As SolarWinds explains in the advisory, issued Thursday, the original cyberattack inserts a vulnerability now known as Sunburst into the Orion software. That attack, the company said, “could potentially allow an attacker to compromise the server on which the Orion products run.”
Of course, Apple has owned and operated the Beats audio brand since 2014 and has enjoyed huge success with its popular AirPods since 2016, but this is the first time the US firm has launched its own over-ear headphones.

In other Microsoft Teams news, users have recently found out about a bunch of new features heading to the Zoom and Slack rival.
