Such technology, she said, was in use all over the world, from Europe to the US and China. Taigusys, a company that specialises in emotion recognition systems and whose main office is in Shenzhen, says it has used them in settings ranging from care homes to prisons, while according to reports earlier this year, the Indian city of Lucknow is planning to use the technology to spot distress in women as a result of harassment – a move that has met with criticism, including from digital rights organisations.
While Hagerty said emotion recognition technology might have some potential benefits these must be weighed against concerns around accuracy, racial bias, as well as whether the technology was even the right tool for a particular job.

DMX reportedly hospitalized and in serious condition

Rapper DMX has been hospitalized, and is apparently in “grave” condition,
TMZ reports. According to the site, the musician who has long struggled with issues with substance abuse overdosed in his New York home last night, and suffered a heart attack in the aftermath.

Born Earl Simmons, and a fixture in the rap world for decades, DMX has been open about his struggles with drugs in the past. (When he was convicted of tax evasion back in 2018, he played the judge his 1998 song “Slippin’” as a way to try to explain his long-time battles with addiction and desire for self-improvement.) Although he returned to performing after being released from prison in 2019, DMX made his most recent public appearance in July of last year, facing off against Snoop Dogg for an online rap battle on the Verzuz music platform.
Man suffers serious stab wounds in downtown Portland April 03 2021
The Portland Police Bureau says the victim is likely to survive the before dark stabbing in downtown Portland.
A man was rushed to the hospital after being stabbed multiple times Friday in downtown Portland, police said.
Central Precinct officers responded to the stabbing near Southwest Oak Street and Naito Parkway around 6:28 p.m. on April 2, according to a news release.
The victim, an adult male, was stabbed multiple times in the torso and was taken to the hospital for treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, police said.
Police declined to release suspect information and did not make any arrests. The case remains under investigation.
