Protest addresses Gaebler tweets

Heidi Beedle About a dozen protesters gathered in front of City Hall for the March 9 City Council meeting to protest social media posts by District 5 City Council representative Jill Gaebler. On Twitter, Gaebler has accused President Joe Biden of “erasing women” by signing an executive order to prevent discrimination against transgender students in school athletic programs, and has spoken out against the Equality Act. Protesters were also encouraged to call in to the City Council meeting during the public comment period. “It saddens me to have to be here today to speak on this topic,” said Ash Stephens, a protest organizer, during public comment. “It saddens me that one of my City Council members has decided to post several transphobic comments and tweets . Standards bodies to coordinate contributions to quantum information technology

ITU Experts in quantum information technology and standardization are set to convene next week to discuss modes of cooperation capable of ensuring harmonized standards development. The symposium will share insight into three key dimensions of quantum technologies: quantum communication, quantum computation, and quantum measurement. Presentations will be followed by a panel discussion among representatives of standards bodies including ITU, ISO, IEC, NIST, ETSI, and CEN-CENELEC. The discussion aims to establish panelists’ opinion on the appropriate shape of ‘standardization roadmap’ for quantum information technologies. A variety of standards bodies are developing guidance on the expected evolution of quantum information technologies and associated terminology, testing and evaluation methodologies, interoperability requirements, and quantum-safe security measures.

Samsung s new Galaxy A52 and A72 are flagship killers on a budget

Samsung says these new Galaxy smartphones have been created to include the features that consumers want the most – with a good camera, long battery, impressive screen and affordable price all a top priority. In recent years, Samsung has moved away from piling all of its features into its priciest smartphones. The South Korean firm is increasingly focusing on the mid-range to fend off competition from the likes of Huawei, OnePlus, Xiaomi, Motorola and Googe. And looking at the spec sheet of the latest Galaxy A series, it certainly seems that Samsung has ticked all of the right boxes. All three new smartphones offer an edge-to-edge Super AMOLED screen with small bezels to squeeze the most screen into the body. Those buying the A72 and A52 will be treated to a smooth 90Hz refresh rate, while the A52 5G going one step further with a 120Hz screen. This means it will offer an experience that s as good as the much more expensive Galaxy S21.
