The Minister of Transport and Communications H E Jassim bin Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti said the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MoTC) is determined to place Qatar as a regional ICT hub and a destination for international investors by investing in cloud computing.
The Minister disclosed this during a virtual event hosted by the MoTC and Microsoft to celebrate the first anniversary of cloud migration via Microsoft Azure.
The Minister also announced the completion of construction and infrastructure for three data centers for Microsoft Azure that would begin operations in the first quarter of 2022, making Qatar the 55th Azure region in the world.

Fahad Saad al-Qahtani, CEO of the public transport operator Mowasalat, told the Arabic daily
Arrayah: “In the first phase, we are preparing the framework of the project while the second phase includes design works,” he explained. He said that production will be started by the end of 2022 for the final phase.
The Qatar Free Zones will see the production of 1,500 electric buses within seven years from the end of 2022, Mowasalat (Karwa) CEO Fahad Saad al-Qahtani has said. “The production shall be increased according to the market demand and the buses will also be exported to the Middle East, Europe, South America and Africa,” he told local Arabic daily
