Qatar Children’s Museum hosts online Ramadan activities

Doha: Qatar Children’s Museum (QCM) is celebrating the holy month of Ramadan with online activities centred on the themes of family engagement, heritage and culture to promote #RamdanJoyToAll.
Throughout the holy month, the museum is working closely with members of the community to highlight how Qatari culture and family bonds feature an intergenerational perspective using oral history videos, challenges (fawazeer), and other various activities.
In celebration of Garangao, the annual children’s festival held on the 15th night of Ramadan, QCM hosted a workshop on social media with cultural expert, Najla Al Hemaidi, on April 24, who demonstrated how to make various items such as medallions, bookmarks, baskets, and more using palm tree weaving. Museums organise virtual activities during Ramadan

A number of museums in Qatar are organising online activities in celebration of the holy month of Ramadan.
The Qatar Children’s Museum (QCM) has announced it will hold Garangao workshop in which families are invited to learn the traditional way of basket weaving used in making native Garangao baskets which hold sweets and nuts.
The workshop will teach the participants how to make keychains and bookmarks following the traditional basket weaving method. There will be two sessions to be held on April 24 via Zoom, one from 9am to 10am and another from 11am to 12pm, said QCM in a social media post.
