It s why Catholic Charities Dallas and its local food bank partners are holding their second mega-food event March 12, expecting a repeat of the first one in November when they distributed 70,000 pounds of food to more than 1,000 families in one day. Edwin Chinchilla, a senior program manager for Catholic Charities who coordinates its food programs, thinks they may even surpass those numbers. As the pandemic has roiled on, the need for food has increased tremendously, he told EarthBeat.

Lt. of Rescue Cathy Wilinski suggested the food drive. It was an awesome idea, since fire departments are always giving of themselves to help others. Compared to putting out a fire or rescuing a person in need, we figured this would be a breeze, Killian said.
