Government commits $518 million to Canada Foundation for Innovation to fund research projects The Government of Canada has committed $518 million in research infrastructure funding through the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI). Announced Wednesday, the funding is going to support 102 projects at 35 post-secondary institutions and research hospitals across the country. The government called the financing a way to help Canada keep at the “forefront of exploration, innovation and discovery.” The CFI is a 20-year-old, independent, not-for-profit organization that invests in research facilities and equipment in Canada’s universities, colleges, research hospitals, and non-profit research institutions.
