Province provides $2.3 million in funding for six new tourism developments in the Cariboo SHARE ON: Six new tourism developments are coming to the Cariboo Chilcotin Coast Tourism Association (CCCTA). $2.3 million is coming to the CCCTA from the province as a part of BC’s Economic Recovery Plan. CCCTA CEO Amy Thacker says six projects have been approved, including: Great Bear Rainforest Marine Trail and Indigenous Development Project: Assist Coastal First Nations in the creation of a network of shore accessible campsites and recreation areas, and support the development of community paddling centres to develop visitor experiences like adventure guiding, wildlife viewing, eco-tourism, and Indigenous cultural experience. -$705,293

Cariboo Chilcotin Coast Tourism committing to pursue Biosphere certification SHARE ON: Quesnel Lake - Photo by Geoff Moore, supplied by Cariboo Chilcotin Coast tourism Association The Cariboo Chilcotin Coast Tourism Association (CCCTA) along with three other associations under the BC Regional Tourism Secretariat are signing a letter of commitment to pursue the Responsible Tourism Institute’s Biosphere certification. The Responsible Tourism Institute is an international non-profit organization that works with various tourism associations around the world by developing new ways of travelling and knowing the planet, which includes the Biosphere certification. The Biosphere certification is based on established standards and targets aligned with the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals in areas such as climate change, social, economy, and culture, and is evaluated on an annual basis.

Cariboo Chilcotin Coast Tourism saw plenty of interest in 2020 SHARE ON: The Cariboo-Chilcotin-Coast Tourism Association (CCCTA) is reporting success in 2020 despite COVID-19. According to a report from Director of Marketing Sydney Redpath, the CCCTA had nearly 72 million impressions, including 2.25 million television impressions and 244 thousand website impressions. Redpath also reports the CCCTA’s website user numbers are up 133.27 percent from 2019. Overall, the CCCTA also had more domestic overnight visitors than anywhere else in BC as well. August was the busy month in 2020, for Canadian visitors in the Cariboo as usual. Around 78,000 visitors were in the Cariboo during that month.
