New South Wales has recorded 89 local coronavirus cases, including 21 who were infectious in the community, and another death as restrictions are tightened for essential workers in south-west Sydney.
Premier Gladys Berejiklian revealed the drop in numbers on Tuesday, the day after her state reported its highest number of daily infections this year with 112 cases on Monday.

Sydney’s COVID exposure sites list has swelled overnight to include dozens of transport routes, a Priceline Pharmacy and a Westpac bank.
NSW Health named the hotspots on Monday night, just 12 hours after NSW recorded its highest daily total of new infections this year – at 112.
The fresh cases on Monday take the state’s latest outbreak to 678.

NSW reported 89 new local coronavirus cases on Tuesday, as Premier Gladys Berejiklian foreshadowed an announcement about the future of Sydney’s lockdown as early as this afternoon.
The slight drop in daily cases came as it was announced a second death had been linked to the outbreak. The eastern suburbs man, aged in his 70s, died on Monday.
NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said the bulk of the spread had occurred in south-west Sydney. However, there was seeding in other areas of the city.

At least 30 of the new cases were in the community for some or all of their infectious period. Sixty-four of the cases reside within the South West Sydney Local Health District and 15 are from South Eastern Sydney.

New South Wales has recorded 112 new coronavirus infections - the state s highest daily amount this year - after Premier Gladys Berejiklian said she anticipated local cases to crack 100 in a day.
Ms Berejiklian said most of the fresh cases are family members of positive cases or close contacts, while 48 infections remain under investigation. I want to stress again, as we did yesterday, if you put yourself at risk, you re putting your entire family, and that means extended family, as well as your closest friends and associates, at risk, she said.
