(WTOC) - Glynn County leaders and a local community organization are coming together to improve the relationship between the Glynn County Police Department and the Black community. According to county commissioners, the Community First Planning Commission (CFPC) will now be included in the vetting process for a new Glynn County police chief. Now former Police Chief Jay Wiggins announced his retirement on January 7.

Alliance native Nathan Pollard named police chief in Lithonia, Ga

Pollard graduated from Alliance High in 1977 and was a member of the Aviator band. He attended Bowling Green State University, where he graduated with a bachelor s degree in communications in 1982. He also served as a member of the Georgia Air National Guard. As police chief, Pollard said, some of his goals for the department are to bring policies and procedures into line, make sure the staff is well-trained and secure additional equipment. Additionally, Pollard said he wants to make sure the citizens of Lithonia are happy with our services and try to provide a more pleasant environment for them to live in.
