Dame Carolyn Fairbairn is set to land her second major job in just a week.
The former CBI director-general is being lined up to join the board of HSBC, although her appointment has still not been cleared by the banking regulators.
Last week BAE Systems, the defence contractor, said she would join as a non-executive director in March.
At the CBI, where Fairburn dealt with Brexit, she won credit for demanding Britain leave the EU with a deal.
Fairbairn is married to multi-millionaire property developer Peter Chittick.
