CONCORD, N.H. - A woman who was convicted in 2018 of housing dozens of filthy and sick Great Danes in her New Hampshire mansion must now start paying back nearly $2 million for their care, a judge ruled Thursday.
CONWAY â A local man has been charged in the beating and attempted strangling of his older adult relative and also strangling that man s dog in an incident that occurred Jan. 14.
Jedidiah Hounsell, 24, of Conway has been charged by the Carroll County Attorney s Office with Class B felony second-degree assault, misdemeanor cruelty to animals and misdemeanor simple assault.
He is being held on indefinite detention pending transfer to the New Hampshire State Hospital for involuntary admission.
An affidavit detailing the events of the incident was written by Conway police officer Christopher Kroski.
The incident took place around 9:40 a.m. last Thursday.
He also pleaded guilty to witness tampering for trying to cover up the assault and stalking.
On June 6, at 5 p.m., Conway police officers responded to Saco Canoe Rental on East Side Road in Conway for a report of a man, later identified as Jason Farrell of Salem, now 41, attempting to hold a woman s head underwater while engaged in an altercation in the river.
Officers said they made contact with Farrell as he sat in his vehicle in the parking lot of the rental company.
After they spoke to witnesses at the scene, they took Farrell into custody for attempted murder as defined by RSA 630 and second-degree assault as defined by RSA 631:2.
