Kabul (BNA) The Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) has included Jam Minaret in the Islamic World Heritage List, the Ministry of Information and Culture said Wednesday.
During its 3rd extraordinary meeting, which was held on December 10, 2020, the ISESCO members unanimously agreed with the proposal of Afghanistan for registering the Minaret of Jam in the list of the Islamic World Cultural Heritage, the ministry said.
“The achievement is the result of the hard works and effective efforts of the representative of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Paris that sent and followed up on the documents relating to Minaret of Jam,” said the ministry.

The Ong Chun ceremony and related practices is rooted in folk customs of worshipping Ong Yah, a deity believed to protect people and their lands from disaster. The element is centered in coastal communities in China’s Minnan region and in Melaka, Malaysia. The ceremony includes welcoming Ong Yah to temples or clan halls, delivering good brothers (people lost at sea) from torment, and honouring the connection between people and the ocean. Performances during the procession feature different types of dancing.

100th Anniversary of Intellectual Property Office
The Intellectual Property Office celebrates this year 100 years of its existence. By the decree of the heir to the throne Alexander I Karađorđević on November 15, 1920, the Administration for the Protection of Industrial Property was established as the first government body whose basic competence was to deal with the protection of patents, trademarks and industrial designs. In November 1920, Janko Šuman, Ph.D of Laws, born in Maribor on December 20, 1867, was appointed the first President of the Administration for the Protection of Industrial Property. While at the head of the Administration, Dr. Šuman laid the foundations for the protection of intellectual property in the then Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes. Janko Šuman is the creator of our first Law on Unfair Competition from 1930 and one of the authors of our first Copyright Law from 1929.
