Bay Area Reporter :: Newsom names lesbian former senator Galgiani to gambling post

Governor Gavin Newsom appointed lesbian former senator Cathleen Galgiani Friday to a seat on a state panel that oversees gambling operations in California. It is the second out commissioner Newsom has seated on the five-person oversight body this year. In January, Newsom appointed Santa Rosa resident Eric C. A teacher at the Pittsburg Unified School District from 1990 to 2019, he now is president at Heins & Associates LLC and also serves as vice chair of public education for the Common Good Inc., a newly established nonprofit.

Aside from the ugly and (probably) pointless plastic shower curtains that the restauranteurs had installed to separate the tables, everything else seemed closer to normal [1]. From a public-policy standpoint, life in the state Capitol [2] is inching back to normal, too. State officials are proud of the state’s economic resilience even after the government shuttered the economy for more than a year. There’s an odd sense that everything is fine in California, but many of us know that a return to pre-pandemic life has its share of challenges.
