DHCS releases 2021 timeline for CalAIM initiative Emily Boerger | Feb 2, 2021 Share this: The California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) offered stakeholders a timeline of 2021 “implementation milestones” to support the CalAIM initiative during a relaunching webinar last week. The agency released an updated CalAIM proposal last month, introducing key changes following stakeholder feedback and adjustments due to the COVID-19 pandemic. DHCS’s release of the updated initiative is the latest step in the department’s effort to implement broad program, delivery system, and payment reform for the Medi-Cal program.     During the first few months of 2021, DHCS will release a handful of draft documents related to the Enhanced Care Management (ECM) and In Lieu of Services (ILOS) components of CalAIM. So when Bruce Hebets, the late CEO of the Borrego Community Health Foundation, offered Wells a job as staff psychologist at the nonprofit healthcare provider five years ago, the mayor had a different idea. DHCS releases revised CalAIM proposal Emily Boerger | Jan 15, 2021 Share this: The California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) released an updated CalAIM proposal last week, introducing key changes following stakeholder feedback and adjustments due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The CalAIM initiative aims to implement broad program, delivery system, and payment reform for the Medi-Cal program. The initiatives three primary goals focus on addressing social determinants of health and adopting whole person care approaches, reduce Medi-Cal complexity while increasing flexibility, and improving outcomes and driving delivery system transformation.     DHCS originally released the CalAIM proposal in October 2019, after which the agency conducted extensive stakeholder meetings. The department then postponed implementation of the CalAIM initiative, originally scheduled for January 2021, to focus on the public health emergency. The new start date is slated for January 1
