Flores who was arrested for murder on Tuesday walked Smart home from that party, and previously was named the prime suspect, authorities said. Flores is accused of causing the teen s death during an attempted rape, San Luis Obispo District Attorney Dan Dow said Wednesday. During Thursday s court appearance, Flores attorney, Robert Sanger, requested the arraignment be continued until Monday and will enter a plea at that time.

San Luis Obispo County District Attorney Dan Dow is seeking more potential victims linked to Paul Flores, the man prosecutors say assaulted and killed Cal Poly student Kristin Smart in 1996.
Flores was charged with murder in the decades-long unsolved case of Smart, who went missing on the walk to her dorm after attending a party on Memorial Day weekend. Flores, 44, was the last known person to see her alive and has long been the only suspect in the case.

LOS ANGELES - A former California college student charged with murder in the 1996 disappearance of classmate Kristin Smart and the defendant’s father, who is accused of helping hide the young woman’s body, made their first court appearance Thursday but did not enter pleas.
Paul Flores, 44, was charged with first-degree murder for the killing that allegedly happened as he tried to rape Smart in his dorm room at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo after an off-campus party. Witnesses said Smart was intoxicated and Flores had said he would walk her home.
