Paul Flores. They say the elderly man, now 80, helped move and hide the victim’s body through the years and as recently as Feb. 2020.
Kristin still remains missing, but her family as well as authorities in San Luis Obispo County, California say she is dead and that Paul Flores, 44, is responsible. Investigators previously said that Smart went missing on May 25, 1996 during her freshman year at California Polytechnic State University. Paul Flores was allegedly the last person to be seen with her. Authorities now say that he killed the 19-year-old during a rape or rape attempt.

Paul Flores, the long-time suspect in the 1996 disappearance of California college student Kristin Smart, was arrested on Tuesday in San Pedro, California
His father, Ruben Flores, was also arrested around the same time
The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff announced soon after they would be announcing major developments regarding the Smart investigation on Tuesday
The arrests come less than a month after officers conducted a search warrant at the Flores family home
Investigators brought in ground penetrating radar equipment and cadaver dogs to search the home on March 15

ORONO University of Maine Cooperative Extension and the Maine Beef Producers Association will offer the fourth annual Cattlemen’s College online, with presentations available for viewing April 19 to May 3.
Workshop topics include adequate beef cattle nutrition and conditioning, selecting quality bulls, processing yields and processor expectations, selling beef in Maine, cooking with home-ground beef, and recent research results. Scheduled presenters are from the University of Maine, UMaine Extension, University of Kentucky, West Texas A&M University and California Polytechnic State University.
The event also will feature a youth beef-judging class and silent auction.
